The Arcade Joystick

Reviews

"Another firm

favourite in the CU offices, The Arcade has proved remarkably resilient to more than a year's worth of constant use. The fact that it has survived such duress is a testament to its sturdy construction and solid design. What you get for your money is a pretty basic stick with one firebutton and a long shaft with ball-handle. lt might not be much to look at, but it plays superbly well and. if it wasn't for the leaf spring firebutton, would be one of the best sticks available. The lack of options comes as a welcome relief as it seems to be the fashion these days to incorporate as many unessential gimmicks as possible merely to artificially bump up the price. The back-to-basics approach is to be widely applauded and the matt black appearance of the machine, together with its triangle design. gives it a cer- tain style all its own." 4/5

Chillingly, this joystick is shaped like a coffin. And a black coffin to boot. Very simple in design. The Arcade Joystick has one (only one?) firebutton, and not a particularly nice one at that It's quite a solid little unit but Ihc hall handle is a bit stiff and 1 found it a little difficult to manoeuvre in fiddly games. And at £24, if $ rather expensive for the limited features it offers. Steve Bradley, Amiga Format, August 1993
